The Tree of Life
It is one of the most prominent symbols in the Anatolian Cultures and it is called as “Tree of Life”,“Tree of Wisdom”, “Universal Tree”,“Cosmic Tree” or “Tree of the World” in many places.
It is believed that the tree reaches out to the hell in the seven levels below from ground with its roots, to the earth surface which is middle world with its body and to the heaven on the seven levels above from the ground with its branches and leaves.
It is represented by its body on the center of earth surface and by the pole star which is accepted as the peak point in the center of the sky. It is the symbol of the relation between the earth and sky since it connects them and it is accepted as the center in this sense.
The tree symbol symbolizes the unity of the universe and the continuum of life and it indicates harmony, growth, reproduction, productive and innovative processes. It represents a never ending life and it is the symbol if immortality in this sense.
